Christians all over the world believe in the physical death, burial and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. But what do we know and understand about the time leading up to these events? The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John provide so much for us to consider.
This Sunday, February 18, we will begin a new sermon series I’m calling, “The Road to the Resurrection,” in which we will study the last week of our Saviour’s life. As we prepare to celebrate Easter at the end of March, my hope is that we slow down and take the time to reflect on what His death and resurrection mean to us. Jesus, the Lamb of God, was in control of every event in His life. What He did for His creation He did willingly.
We will begin with the triumphal entry and weeping over Jerusalem found in Luke. Traditionally, Christians celebrate Palm Sunday the week before Easter. However, at The Ridge Bible Church, we will begin this new sermon series with this event. Then on February 25, we will read from John where Jesus speaks with them of His death. On March 3, we will celebrate communion as we do the first Sunday of every month. We’ll also study The Last Supper as presented in the Gospel of Matthew.
The Road to the Resurrection sermon series will give us plenty to consider as we prepare our hearts and minds for the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord. I hope you will join us each Sunday at 10:30.
