Introducing Alec Paul

Alec Paul

I first grasped the beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ as a recent college graduate in late 2000. Once I recognized that my many sins were transferred onto Jesus, and his perfect righteousness was transferred onto me, through faith, I became enamored with knowing him better and serving him for life. Over the next decade I served in various volunteer leadership capacities in my church and parachurch organizations, gaining experience and confidence in my giftings.

Eventually, in 2014, I was asked to preach in a layperson capacity, and I accepted the challenge (expecting it to be a onetime event). However, it went well enough that I was invited to do it several more times. At one point, my pastor suggested that I should enter seminary, as he was confident that I had what it took to succeed in ministry leadership. I agreed to “dip my toes” into seminary by taking my first several classes online, before coming to a turning point after 33 credits. I asked myself the question, “Should I go all in with my ministry, or continue as a lay leader?” After much prayer and deliberation, I decided to sell my successful real estate business and home in Alaska and move my family down to Portland, Oregon to complete my Master of Divinity degree at Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Upon graduating in April 2019, I was hired by Graham Covenant Church, which is now known as The Ridge Bible Church.

My wife Becky and our two young children love living in Washington and serving God together. Each time I get to preach, I endeavor to do what that pastor did for me back in 2000…clearly communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ so that my hearers will grasp its beauty and be transformed by it. We at The Ridge Bible Church welcome you to come and see that the Lord is good! Soli Deo Gloria.
